Milton FL Real Estate, Milton Area and Community Information

History
Milton is one of the most oldest cities in the state of Florida. It was incorporated under the Florida Territorial Acts of 1844. The Blackwater River, located near Milton, was the main transportation mode for the brick, lumber, naval stores, ship building and timber industries. However, the town's roots go back even further than 1844, when people started settling along the Blackwater River. If you want to stump the locals while looking at Milton real estate, ask them if they know why the town used to be referred to as "Scratch Ankle." (Answer: It is because of the brambles and briars located along the Blackwater River.)Parks and Recreation
